A Connection That Lasts: Inside the Unbreakable BFF Bond of PLDT High Speed Hitters Kianna, Majoy, Jessey, and Mika
Nothing really stays still in Philippine volleyball. Lineups change, systems reset, and players leave, return, and reinvent themselves. Even winning feels temporary, something you borrow more than you keep.
And yet, for PLDT High Speed Hitters Kianna Dy, Majoy Baron, Mika Reyes, and Jessey de Leon, there is something that has resisted all that movement. They stayed.
They have a friendship they maintained across seasons, across injuries, across the stretches when there is no game to play and no crowd to perform for.
For Kianna and Majoy, the story begins in La Salle, back when the future still felt like something abstract. They have since moved through different versions of themselves—college standouts, young pros, and now, veterans in a league that doesn’t wait for anyone. But the rhythm between them hasn’t changed.
“It’s the consistency,” Kianna says
“Through college, the semi-pros, and now the pros, we’re still here, together.”
There’s a way athletes talk about consistency that usually refers to performance—how to show up the same way every game, every set. But here, it means something else. It means answering messages. It means remembering to check in. It means staying even when there’s no immediate reason to.
Majoy puts it more plainly: they show up for each other. Especially on the bad days.

“Every time one of us is going through a bad day or an injury, we make sure to check in on one another,” says Majoy.
They shared that traveling together has taken their connection beyond the usual rhythm of daily conversations. The PLDT High Speed Hitters carve out space for self-care, for slowing down, for simply being around each other.
It’s there, too, that they reconnect with family, letting the pace soften without losing the bond.
Kianna and Majoy likened their friendship to something fast, steady, and dependable—much like PLDT Home Fiber. It doesn’t flicker, whether in the middle of a game or in the stretches away from it.
“Parang tayo lang yan. Yung connection na hindi mawawala on and off the court,” says Kianna.
Meanwhile in another video, Mika and Jessey answered a lightning round of questions about who’s more likely to do a certain thing.
Their lighthearted banter revealed a deep sense of trust and familiarity.
“I always depend on you,” Jessey shares about Mika.
Mika adds, “We’ve grown so much since our college days. As a team, we’re more mature now. But one thing remains the same – our trust for each other.”

Trust, for them, shows up in smaller, more fragile moments when they don’t feel like their best selves, when there’s nothing impressive to offer.
That’s where it holds.
“It’s knowing someone will stay,” Jessey explains. When things are messy. Heavy. Uncertain.
“That kind of consistency builds a different level of trust where you feel safe to be fully yourself without fear of being judged or left behind,” she adds.
Mika, for her part, laughs at their differences—the clinginess, the perfectionism, the little habits that would annoy anyone else. But even there, the conclusion feels settled.
“Sino ang palaging nandiyan?”
The answer doesn’t need discussion.
“Pareho kami.”
That’s the thing about friendships like theirs. They aren’t built in big moments. They’re built in repetition. In the decision, made over and over again, to stay connected—to keep choosing each other, even as everything else moves.
Mika and Jessey also revealed another BFF: “Sa lahat ng pinagdadaanan namin, may isa pa kaming BFF na forever steady – PLDT Home Fiber. Kasi pag forever steady, mas kampante ka.”
